Beaches Sangha Meeting

September 3 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Beaches Sangha is a welcoming Secular Buddhist group, inspired by the traditional concept of ‘sangha’ as a spiritual community. We focus on practical insights from the Buddha’s teachings to help navigate life’s challenges. Our meetings explore Buddhist teachings in a modern, accessible way, led by our experienced teacher Lenorë Lambert, an Organisational Psychologist with over 20 years of practice and author of ‘The Buddha for Modern Minds’.

This week our discussion topic starter is Noah Rasheta’s “Exploring Change & Impermanence”
Episode 149, Firsts and Lasts. A short podcast (23 mins) exploring our relationship with moments in time and how our perspective changes when we begin to really notice impermanence.  This connects nicely with some of our recent Sutta discussions.

Noah: In this episode, I explore the profound concept of “firsts and lasts” and how recognizing the unique preciousness of each moment can shift our perspective on time and experience. I share how this understanding has been deeply impacted by my father’s illness and a tragic accident involving a friend, highlighting that every interaction, no matter how mundane or significant, is happening for both the first and last time.

This realization encourages us to embrace all moments, pleasant or unpleasant, not for their quality, but for their inherent uniqueness, fostering a sense of gratitude and acceptance, and reminding us to “come as you are” in our practice and in life.
