Beaches Sangha Meeting

April 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Beaches Sangha is a welcoming Secular Buddhist group, inspired by the traditional concept of ‘sangha’ as a spiritual community. We focus on practical insights from the Buddha’s teachings to help navigate life’s challenges. Our meetings explore Buddhist teachings in a modern, accessible way, led by our experienced teacher Lenorë Lambert, an Organisational Psychologist with over 20 years of practice and author of ‘The Buddha for Modern Minds’.

This week we’ll be discussing an Insight Dialogue teaching by Gregory Kamer titled The Interpersonal Path to Freedom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwle_lQ-BFc

“Insight Dialogue is a relational meditation practice.  It brings together meditative awareness, the wisdom teachings of the Buddha, and interpersonal dialogue.

By pausing, relaxing, opening, and listening deeply, we bring mindfulness into conversation itself.  Speaking and listening in this way reveal our habits of clinging, fear, and separation, while also opening the door to compassion, clarity, and freedom. Dialogue becomes a path of awakening.” — Gregory Kramer, Insight Dialogue

Discussion Questions

  • What feels different about practicing mindfulness in dialogue, compared to sitting meditation in silence?
  • Which of the Insight Dialogue guidelines (Pause, Relax, Open, Trust Emergence, Listen Deeply, Speak the Truth) speaks most to you, and why?
  • How might relational meditation change the way we interact in Sangha or in daily life?
  • What obstacles arise when trying to be fully present in speaking and listening?
  • Can dialogue itself be a path to insight? What are the risks and the benefits?
